What is the purpose of the Marketing Questionnaire (MQ)?
To share with us your promotional ideas and contacts. We will use this information to create review lists and to target your book to the appropriate readership. Author participation is vital to any marketing campaign, so you must provide as much information as possible to assist our marketing staff in reaching your book’s intended readership. Please take the time to list all individuals, organizations, societies, and institutions in your personal and professional network that might have an interest in your book.
Should I create a website, blog, or Facebook page to promote my book?
We encourage authors to utilize their personal and professional networks to promote their new book, and using social media tools such as Facebook and Twitter, blogs, and websites can effectively identify and connect with your intended readership. If you are interested in setting up a blog, we recommend that you start by visiting three popular blogging platforms: wordpress.com, blogger.com, or tumblr.com. As for creating your own website, we recommend you talk with Day One Web (see Website Design Assistance under our Other Services Page). You can host a blog directly on your website with Day One Web.
May I sell my own book?
Yes, you may sell your book directly. You may purchase your book at the author’s discount and set your selling price independently of the retail price set by Wahrheit & Vernunft, our distributors, and retailers. Please note our return policy when deciding how many copies you want to purchase, as author purchases are non-returnable. Also, authors do not receive royalties on books purchased at the author discount rate. Authors are responsible for any tax responsibilities their state may require to sell their books.
Are there additional marketing materials available to me apart from promotional flyers?
Bookmarks, postcards, and display boards are available only by request, and each can entail additional design labor and materials fees.
