How long will it take for my book to appear in print?
Exact publication schedules are complex to forecast accurately because of the many variables particular to each project, as each book is unique. A standard turnaround timeframe for editing and formatting is six to eight months, depending on various issues. Some books can take as little as three months, while others may require a full year.
Do I need to purchase an ISBN?
No. We will provide that for you.
Do I need to purchase a barcode?
No. We will provide that for you.
Who will be designing the cover?
Wahrheit & Vernunft takes sole responsibility for developing cover designs for our books. In creating a cover for your book, our designers will consider both our house style and the book’s content. Please note that we do not include authors in this decision process. Still, if you have a specific image or design concept in mind, you may submit it with your manuscript files for consideration by our design department. We guarantee that it will look professional and as attractive as, if not better than, any other book on the market.
How will my book look when it is finished?
The quality of your finished book will appear similar to, if not better than, what you would expect to find in any bookstore or library. All print trim sizes are 6" x 9", with the text stock used being 50# crème.
Your cover is printed in vivid colors on a high-quality laminated cover stock with a matte or gloss finish.
Should I find reviewers or endorsers for my book?
When appropriate to the genre and caliber of the book, we encourage authors to inform their assigned point of contact of their candidates to review or endorse the book. You will have a chance to provide this information on the Marketing Questionnaire accompanying the publishing contract. We welcome up to three endorsements on the cover; you may solicit the endorsements or ask for our help. If you have already solicited and received endorsements for your book, please send them to your editor with the endorsers’ names and relevant information (professional title, books authored, etc.).
How long will the book remain in print?
Our short-run production and print-on-demand methods enable us to keep a title active and in print in perpetuity, regardless of the number of copies sold. That said, if you wish to take your book out of print, it can be done. However, distributors require the right to sell your book for one year after the publication date. You may take your book out of print any time after that first full year.
How many copies will be printed in the initial print run?
The size of the initial print run depends on the number of copies ordered by the author and requested to be sent for review to journals.
How is the retail price determined?
Page count, format type, similar book titles, and printing costs contribute to determining the retail price.
What should I expect from the publishing process?
As a hybrid publisher, we are your partner in publishing. You get the best of traditional and print-on-demand publishing services. Unlike traditional publishing houses, you will not have to wait up to two years to see your book published and have no control over the final product.
Because we are your partner, we walk you through the entire process and have our personal support. You have much more control and input than with a traditional publisher. Our publishing packages are designed to meet your precise needs. Perhaps most importantly, you retain all rights to your book when you publish through us.
